At Camp, there are merchants. One is the Blacksmith, one is the Village Merchant, one is the Luxury Merchant, and the last is the Mystery Merchant. Each merchant trades emeralds for items. You get emeralds by killing mobs. We will come back to the merchants later. At camp, there is an Adventure Hub. We will cover more of that in Minecraft Dungeons: The Tower. At the bottom of the interface of the Adventure Hub, are weekly challanges. These contribute to your rank. Some examples of weekly challanges are, Defeat Necromancers, or Travel Without Touching the Ground.
To start a level, open the map. Select the first level, which is Pumpkin Pastures, and pick a difficulty that suits you. When you select it, you will load into the map. When you are in, press the bottom part of the plus button to turn the map on. The map is a little annoying, but very helpful. The dark parts of the map are the unexplored part. Mobs are everywhere. Kill the mobs, in case you wondering, are trying to take over the world and kill all the villagers. Unlike Minecraft, villagers are amazing and will fight.
If you are playing online, if your friend dies, you must go revive him/her. It will turn to Night Mode when they die. If you don't revive them in time, mobs will start spawning. If you wait 30 seconds, phantoms will attack.
The more you explore, you may find chests or pots. Open a chest and you will get emeralds and sometimes artifacts or weapons. Brown chests give you emeralds and artifacts, gold chests give you emeralds and weapons, and black and blue chests give you really good stuff. If you find a pot, breaking it will give you emeralds. Different color pots only spawn on certain levels, and will give you more emeralds. You may also run into a raid captain. Raid captains are mini-bosses. When killed, a raid captain will drop either a threat banner, or a mystery banner. When picked up, a threat banner will increase the difficulty by 1, and a mystery banner will give a random bad effect to the game, such as 15% of melee mobs are replaced with Creeper, or the game turns to Night Mode. During Night Mode, mobs spawn.
As you play through, you may notice that you level up. When you level up, you earn enchantment points. Enchantment points can be used to enchant your items.
During the level, you may fight a mini-boss such as a Redstone Golem, Evoker, Enderman, or some other thing that I can't remember. At the end of most levels, there is a boss. In Pumpkin Pastures, the boss is an Evoker.
Once you complete Pumpkin Pastures, you will unlock the next level. Play that to unlock another level, and etc.
Once you complete Highblock Halls, play Obsidian Pinnacle. At the end, you will fight the Arch Illager. It is an extremely hard boss fight. The Arch Illager is the final boss of the Mainland.
