Minecraft: The Wither (Minecraft Review #11)

The Ender Dragon was hard enough. Well, why don't you fight the Wither. Nothing could possibly go wrong.

Actually, everything could go wrong. So here's a brief description of the Wither.

The Wither can fly and shoot skulls at you. These skulls give you the wither effect. The Wither can break blocks. When the Wither kills a mob, it will drop a wither rose, which gives the wither effect when stepped on. Once damaged to half health, the Wither will be at phase 2. In phase 2, the Wither is invulnerable to projectiles. The Wither has a glowing blue shield around it. In Bedrock, the Wither can summon wither skeletons. But not in Java. The Wither can also zoom at you and break blocks. In phase 2, the Wither can shoot a barrage of skulls.

Here's a list of what you need:

  • Enchanted netherite gear + sword and pickaxe

  • 4 Totems of Undying

  • 4 Enchanted apples

  • An enchanted bow

  • Healing arrows (healing arrows damage the Wither)

  • 10 Golden apples

  • 5 Instant Health II potions

  • 3 Stacks of cobblestone

  • A backup of your world before you summoned the Wither

Now you're ready. It does seem like a lot, but it sure beats losing all your stuff. To summon the Wither, place soul sand in the shape of a T with 3 wither skills on top. Now, back up as far as you can. The first of many many many many explosions will do serious damage. The Wither does regenerate, so be quick with your attacks. Go on. Fight it. What? Now you won't just because I said everything will go wrong?

Once you kill it, if you kill it, it will drop a Nether Star. (All that for a star?) Well, the Nether Star can be used to make a beacon. Craft it. Next, build a pyramid with 4 blocks that step up. Place the beacon on the flat top as shown. You can make it with iron, diamond, gold, or emerald in all forms as shown.

To power your beacon, click on it. Place an ore ingot of your choice in the slot. Select an effect. If the beacon is on the biggest pyramid, you can select a secondary effect. You can also make the beam a different color by placing glass on the beam.
